New Delhi, Dec 08: BJP today demanded an explanation from Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the alleged attempt by former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi to break it in a bid to prevent formation of a BJP government there.
"Gandhi should clarify her position in the entire issue for Jogi has only been suspended from the party and a four-member committee set up to probe the entire matter," party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters here.
He said the last time when Jogi had split the BJP in Chhattisgarh, she had congratulated him.
"It cannot be believed that Jogi would have undertaken this kind of exercise without the knowledge of Gandhi or other leaders of the party," he said.
To a question whether Gandhi would be questioned by CBI which is to probe into the Jogi issue, Malhotra said "the agency could also ask her”.
The party also took exception to the manner in which Director General of Police, Bihar, D P Ojha had been removed by the state government after he had given a report on RJD MP Mohammed Shahbuddin and his alleged links with ISI and the threat he posed to national security.
Malhotra said Congress was continuing its support to RJD without a protest or murmur. Bureau Report
