Pak court sentences former naval chief to 7 years in prison
Karachi, Jan 08: A Pakistani court today sentenced a former naval chief to seven years in prison after finding him guilty of receiving illegal commissions in the purchase of three ships for the state-owned Pakistan national shipping corp., officials said.

Mansur ul-Haq was arrested by an anti-corruption agency in April 2002 and later admitted that he had received commissions during his tenure as naval chief from 1994 to
1997.
Haq fled to the United States in 1998 but was extradited in April 2002 on Pakistan's request. Today, judge Parkash Lal found him guilty of receiving kickbacks – the amount was unclear -- and ordered him imprisoned for seven years.
