Hong Kong, Oct 07: The world's biggest cellphone maker Nokia took an unsteady step into a new market on Tuesday with the launch of its first-ever gaming-oriented phone, aimed at bolstering flagging sales. The global launch of Nokia's N-Gage, beginning in Asia, comes amid tepid reviews from gamers and critics for the device who say it is pricey and does not excel at either of its two functions.

Nokia's N-Gage is the first device to combine a handheld gaming console like Nintendo's GameBoy with conventional mobile phone features.
The Finnish company has said it hopes to sell several million units next year, in one of its largest and most expensive launches ever, pegged by one analyst at US$175 million. Bureau Report
