Washington, June 19: A novel `electronic nose` will sniff out your lung cancer. The biosensor, known as Cyranose, is a faster and non-invasive way of detecting the cancer.

The device works by picking up the scent of certain telltale compounds exhaled in the breath of people with lung cancer. The human breath contains hundreds of volatile chemicals, but in patients with lung cancer, a high alkane/benzene content is usually present.

The Cyranose was developed by Cyrano Sciences of Pasadena, California. Bureau Report
