Himachal cabinet decides to cancel MoU of hydro-power projects
Shimla, Nov 06: The Himachal cabinet today decided to cancel the memorandum of understanding in respect of eight hydro-power projects with 277.5 mw potential and place eight other projects with potential of 1538 mw under scanner for submitting status report to the council of ministers for further action.

The cabinet also decided to cancel the MoU for over a dozen mini and micro hydel projects and monitor the progress of other projects which had met the milestones required under the terms and conditions of the MoUs.
The cabinet accepted the action taken report of the cabinet sub-committee headed by power minister Vidya stokes and high level committee headed by the chief secretary for review of the MoU for power projects signed during the previous BJP government and decided to proceed for cancellation of MoU after following due process of law.

The cabinet sub-committee had recommended cancellation of MoU for Dhamwari Sunda (70 mw) Fozal (6 mw), Neogal (15 mw), Tangnu Omal (44 mw), baragaon (1.5 mw) and saikoti (17 mw) and readvertising the Budhil (70 mw) and Kugti (70 mw) hydro power projects.
