Patna, July 26: Transactions were badly affected as bankers struck work in Sasaram, Bhojpur and Bhabhua today to protest against the abduction of their colleague even as there was no breakthrough in the kidnapping of four persons, including a coal merchant, the bank official and sons of two businessmen in Bihar.
The bank employees under the banner of United Forum of Bank Union held demonstration outside their offices at three places abstaining from work, union's general secretary G K Verma said, adding protest would continue for early and safe release of the bank manager.
Unidentified persons had yesterday kidnapped a coal merchant, Dhananjay Kumar, near New Delia under Dehri police station of Rohtas district when he was on way to coal depot, while Etmaha branch manager of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) R B Sharma was abducted from a place under Nasriganj police station when he was on way to the bank from his Dehri-on-Sone residence along with three other bank employees.
Abductors had also raided the house of a jeweller, Subod Mahato, at Barbigha market, looted property worth over Rs 1.5 lakh and took away his 12-year-old son Nitish Kumar a day before yesterday.
In another incident, eight-year-old Rahul Kumar, son of a businessman Hira Sao, was kidnapped at Chewag market in Sheikhpura late last night.



State Director General of Police D P Ojha said raids were being conducted at different places for their safe release.
