Army pays over Rs.27 crore as compensation to border farmers
Jammu, Jan 07: Army authorities have paid over Rs 27.12 crores as third installment of compensation to border farmers in Jammu division for the damages occurred to their crops, trees and other structures on account of mining or denial of access to their lands due to security reasons.

This ex-gratia of payment of compensation has been deposited by the defence estate officer (DEO), Jammu and of northern command with five deputy commissioners of Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur for further distribution to the farmers, a defence spokesman of northern command said
here today.
