Patna, July 19: The congress today criticised the BJP for "repeatedly" raking up the foreign origin issue of party president Sonia Gandhi saying it was "unfortunate, immoral and against Indian culture". "By raising this issue once again, BJP has proved it has no political agenda to woo voters for the next assembly and general elections...," Bihar Congress president Ramjatan Sinha told reporters here while reacting to comments of BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi yesterday.

Sinha said BJP was making such "immoral and unfortunate" attack on Sonia Gandhi though senior national leaders of various political parties and the Supreme Court already acknowledged her as an Indian citizen.

Naqvi said in Raipur yesterday, "We have no problem with Congress making Sonia Gandhi or even Pervez Musharraf its president but projecting her as Prime Minister could raise questions among the people about national interest and security." Union minister Arun Jaitley later sought to retract the statement. Bureau Report
