Flagging off a mobile publicity van for educating the common people on the need to save Yamuna from deterioration, she said there will be construction of 954 CTCs and 14 'decentralised' STPs to provide hygienic and easily accessible public conveniences to the population of the capital.

To prevent further pollution of Yamuna by burnt and unburnt dead bodies and keeping in mind public sentiments, state-of-art electric crematorium will be constructed on the banks of the river, she added.
She said a nine-month Public Participation and Public Awareness (PPPA) programme has also been drawn up to bring about greater public participation at community level to clean Yamuna.

A series of rallies, 'melas' and 1000 eco-clubs are to be organised to inculcate environment-friendly attitude among the children of the city, she said.

YAP has been drawn up by ministry of environment and forests with the help of financial assistance from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and is being implemented by MCD and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) jointly in Delhi.
