New Delhi, Sept 23: BJP today accused the Congress
government in Delhi of "conspiring" to get almost five lakh
bogus votes registered for the coming assembly elections in
the national capital region.
"We have surveyed all the 70 assembly constituencies in
Delhi and have found 4,93,963 bogus voters' names and have
forwarded the same to the Election Commission," Delhi BJP
President Madan Lal Khurana told reporters here.
Accusing the ration officers of collusion with the ruling
party, senior BJP leader and chairman of the election campaign
committee for Delhi Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the party will
scrutainise the parliamentary voter lists and claimed "more
than 10 lakh bogus votes would be found there."
Claiming that in the present situation, free and fair
polls in Delhi were "impossible," Malhotra regretted that
despite repeated letters, the election commission has not
responded and not even given time to the members of Parliament
from Delhi to meet the EC.
"If the commission fails to redress our grievances, we
will be forced to take the evidence we have to the courts," he
said.
He said BJP had told its units in other election-bound states to find out about the discrepancies in voter lists.
Alleging that bogus ration cards were made for people residing outside Delhi, Khurana said police should take action in this regard.
The two leaders also demanded that election commission expedite the allotment of photo identity cards to prevent bogus voting.
