Patna, Aug 09: Congress, a major ally in the Rabri Devi-led coalition ministry today took serious exception to the growing lawlessness in Bihar and asked the Chief Minister to take remedial measures besides giving a free hand to the state police chief to check the cycle of violence, kidnapping and looting. A high-level delegation of senior congress leaders headed by BPCC President Ramjatan Sinha called on Chief Minister Rabri Devi and requested her to draw up an action plan to curb violence and effectively deal with abductors and anti-socials who were out to sully Bihar's image. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Sinha said the CM was told about the need for giving a free hand to Director General of Police D P Ojha to effectively counter crime and her response was "quite positive."
The delegation members also demanded immediate replacement of ineffective police officials, particularly in sensitive areas and stringent action initiated against concerned officials if they failed to check crime.
The delegation included former Speaker Radhanandan Jha, Dilkeshwar Ram, Ramashray Prasad Singh and Ramswaroop Ram. Bureau Report
