Jaipur, Dec 06: Union Finance Minister Jaswant Singh today assured chief minister-designate in Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje of all necessary central assistance to tide over the financial crisis created by the "mismanagement of finances" by the outgoing Ashok Gehlot government.
"Rajasthan had been lacking investment, both in public
and private sectors, during the past five years and I assure
Raje that whatever assistance is needed from the Centre, she
would get," he told a meeting of newly elected BJP
legislators, after declaring her unanimous election as
legislative party leader.
Accusing Gehlot government of failure in getting investment and financial mismanagement, Singh said he had always been "troubled" by the state government's functioning because "as Union Finance Minister I knew as to how its internal organs were working”.
The voters have shown in their verdict that government cannot be run on "lies and hype only", he said.
"I did not come to Jaipur even once in the last five years because the Gehlot government did not need me. It was its mistake," he said. "Ab vasundharaji bulayegi to har hafte aaoonga (now I shall come every week if Raje invites me)."
The electorate wanted not only a change of government but also a change in its style of functioning, Singh said.
"Rajasthan has a spectacular history and all of us should commit ourselves for the state's faster development," he added.
