Lucknow, Aug 28: Three days after severing ties with BJP, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today said that BJP leadership had sought her help to withdraw the case against senior BJP leaders named in the Babri-Masjid demolition case. "BJP leadership wanted me not to issue notification in the Ram Janmabhoomi - Babri Masjid case and even requested me to withdraw cases against senior BJP leaders. But I declined and ordered that the case should continue in Rae Bareli court," Mayawati told reporters here today.

And because as Chief Minister she refused to toe the line of BJP leadership, they "connived" with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to "dislodge" her government, she said.

She, however, refused to name the leaders who had tried to influence her to withdraw the Ram-Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid demolition cases against top BJP and VHP leaders.

"I will expose those leaders at the right time," she said.

Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Union HRD Minister M M Joshi, senior BJP leaders Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar, VHP leaders Ashok Singhal, Sadhvi Ritambara and two others are facing trial in the special CBI court in Rae Bareli in the said case under various sections of IPC.
