Raipur, Aug 24: Claiming there exists "a wave of congressnisation" in Chhatisgarh, Chief Minister Ajit Jogi today said that several BJP MLA's have expressed desires to join Congress ahead of the assembly polls but said "the party cannot accommodate any more defectors". "After 13 legislators switched sides, several Opposition MLAs want to join the ruling Congress seeing a bleak future of their party,” Jogi told reporters here.

Jogi claimed membership seekers were "taken up" with the present government's "rapid" development efforts and added that the Opposition "has no clear-cut agenda on the issue"

"In the wake of rapid developmental works carried out in the state some more BJP MLAs want to join the ruling party as they know their future was secure in Congress,” he said.

"The desire to join congress was because of the 'congressanisation of Chhattisgarh' he said and added "but now it is difficult to accommodate BJP legislators".
To a question he denied there had been "any effort to lure" defectors.

Jogi also claimed that there was "gross infighting among leaders" and said that this along with the development issue were the main reasons for potential party switchers.

"Because of the prevailing situation here there could be a `minor fight' between Congress and BJP in the polls,” he said and claimed "others will be wiped out".
Jogi further said that entry of NCP state executive president Pyarelal Belchandan and senior general secretary Mehtarlal Sahu "would further strengthen the ruling party".
