An information technology delegation from Tamil Nadu would visit Japan early next year to tap the export potential in the sector as part of the initiatives by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). STPI Director R Rajalakshmi told reporters in Coimbatore on Thursday night that dialogues had already been initiated with some Japanese companies during her recent visit to that country.
“Japan, which preffered China and Korea, as business partners in the sector, had started appreciating India's growth and outsourcing capacity in the sector,” she said. “In this connection, the STPI had already identified 22 companies from Tamil Nadu under the UNIDO-ITPO (Investment and Technology Promotion Organisation)” programme, she said.
“Out of the 837 it companies in the state, 501 were engaged in exports and did business worth Rs 1,250 crore so far during the current fiscal,” Rajalakshmi said adding that, “It was expected to grow by 10 to 20 %.”
“An it incubator for the benefit of small and medium enterprises would be set up in Coimbatore soon,” she said. Bureau Report
