Russians seem to have certain privileges in India that are unavailable to others. And that allows them to enjoy the best of both worlds. Even as Russia privatises and its business firms corporatise, Russians nevertheless retain the benefits of their Communist past. The modus operandi of the officials of their international airline, Aeroflot, is a case in point.
Some time ago, an arrest warrant was issued against an Aeroflot official for alleged default of payment for cargo damage. However, Delhi Police has not been able to execute the warrant since the official holds a diplomatic visa and has been "hiding" in the Russian Embassy.
