Jammu, Dec 19: A Tada court today exempted Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik and six others from personal appearance in the trial in the kidnapping case of Rubia Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 1989. The presiding officer of Tada court, P N Razdan exempted Malik and six others from personal appearance and also cancelled arrest warrants issued against the JKLF chief.
According to the CBI case Rubia was kidnapped at gunpoint in 1989 while going to hospital where she was doing a house-job.
The kidnappers had released Rubia in exchange for their five jailed colleagues.
The case, initially registered by state police, was referred to the CBI, which presented the challan in the Tada court.
Almost all the accused were granted bail and the case is at the stage of framing of charges. Bureau Report
