Nashik, Dec 04: Zee News’ sensational expose` uncovering indigenous and foreign currency worth millions has finally prompted Nashik Police into admitting that the currency found at Abhay Bansal’s residence is fake. It has filed charges on eight accounts against Bansal. The police, which was till now engaged in efforts to downplay the expose` by Zee Correspondent Yogesh Khare and cameraman Ravi Bagul, today acknowledged that Bansal was hatching a conspiracy to cause the government losses to tune of crores of rupees. They added that stashing such a huge amount of money was a serious offence.
Police said that Bansal’s aim was to bring the old stamps back into circulation. He wanted to erase the government seal from the stamps. The currency found at his house was for illegal use.
Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that the issue will be raised in the Parliament even as Maharashtra CM Sushilkumar Shinde indicated that a Special Investigation Team will be formed to probe the matter and declared that the guilty will not be spared.
