Hyderabad, June 19: Striking a combative note after completing a marathon 1,500 km long padayatra, Andhra Pradesh Congress legislature party leader Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today said people were 'yearning for change' as the TDP government had miserably failed to solve their problems. "The mood among people is very clear. They want change. They want 'Indiramma Raj' to be brought back," Reddy told reporters here. On his return to the state capital after a two-month long padayatra, the CLP leader was given a rousing reception amidst festive atmosphere at Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters, with drum-beating Congress workers dancing in joy and raising slogans proclaiming the 'beginning of the end of TDP rule'. Looking pale and fatigued, the opposition leader, however, said he was moved by the overwhelming public response during his padayatra covering 11 districts and asserted that people were disillusioned with the TDP government and looking for change. "The most important lesson that we have learnt from this mass contact programme is that no government can take people for granted. They will respond in an overwhelming way against such irresponsible governments when given an opportunity," he said. Putting up a picture of unity, Reddy and the state Congress president M Satyanarayana Rao addressed joint press conference and spoke of working out strategies to consolidate the gains made during the padayatra.
