New Delhi, June 26: The southwest monsoon advanced further covering almost entire eastern Uttar Pradesh bringing "moderate" rainfall there as also in Punjab and Haryana and is expected to touch Delhi in the next few days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department here. "It has also advanced into Uttaranchal, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, some more parts of east Rajasthan," Dr S K Subramaniam of the Department said. On the monsoon's arrival in Delhi, Subramaniam said, "If it maintains the speed, the national capital might receive monsoon around June 29". Pre-monsoon showers were expected in Delhi and nearby areas during the next 24 hours, he said.


The South-West monsoon is expected to cover some more areas of east Uttar Pradesh while northern limits of the monsoon runs through Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Dholpur, Kanpur, Bareilly, Dehradun and Uttarkashi, the official said. Terming the rainfall activity over Bihar and west Madhya Pradesh as "good", he said cyclonic circulation was seen over Chhattisgarh and neighbouring areas while another circulation was visible over east Uttar Pradesh.
