Boston, Sep 02: A closing-round 66 gave Adam Scott his first win on the PGA Tour as he sealed victory in the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday. The young Australian finished on 20 under par at the TPC of Boston, four shots clear of American Rocco Mediate, who fired a final-round 65.

England's Justin Rose, who led after the first round, shot 67 to claim third place - a stroke ahead of Vijay Singh.

Tiger Woods finished in a tie for seventh, nine shots adrift after a second successive 67.

"I was grinding really hard out there, especially on the back nine," said Scott, who has already won in Australia and Europe.
"I was scrambling for pars and it was a pretty pressure-packed situation, even when I had a lead over the closing holes.

"But the fans made it an absolute scream to play out there and I really enjoyed it."

Rose was pleased to finish strongly in his bid for a US Tour card.

"I was trying my hardest to win the tournament but Adam played fantastic golf," he said. "I am really happy for him - he is a mate." Bureau Report
