Kolkata, Dec 06: Panic spread within the premises of Doordarshan kendra here after a fire broke out today.

Police and fire brigade were immediately alerted but the fire was put out by the staff before the fire engines reached the spot. The fire was detected around 11 am by the staff on duty when they saw smoke coming out of an abandoned transmitter room near the back gate of the office, director news, kendra Debanjan Chakraborty told reporters here.
Electrical short circuit was suspected to have caused the fire, he said. No damage to life or property has been reported so far.
