New Delhi, Dec 06: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) today accused Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Paramjit Singh Sarna of "misusing" the committee's funds. SAD(Badal)'s Delhi unit president Avtar Singh Hit told reporters here that "Sarna had swindled Rs 25 lakh during 'amrit sanchar' (a sikh religious ceremony) by producing fake bills and expenses". Sarna, however, dismissed all these allegations as "baseless" and said he would quit his post if the charges were proved.
"These people are indulging in all kinds of mud-slinging as they are scared of cases of corruption against them, which we are probing," he said. Sarna said "if he (Hit) is able to prove these charges against me, I will resign from the post of DSGMC president and its membership."
Another party leader Kuldeep Singh Bhogal alleged Sarna had "abused and threatened" a five-member inquiry committee, probing corruption charges against the DSGMC chief, when they questioned him.
Akali Dal (Badal) demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Bureau Report
