London, Sept 09: Shots were fired at the British Embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran early today in the second such attack in six days, the foreign office in London said, adding no one was hurt. "Three to four shots were fired from the street at or close to the Embassy building," a foreign office spokeswoman told a news agency. "No one was injured. We can't speculate on who might be responsible," she added. After the embassy was targeted by gunmen on September 3, the foreign office authorised the voluntary departure of non-essential members of staff and dependants. A foreign office spokesman added today that Britain's ambassador in Tehran, Richard Dalton, was in contact with the Iranian authorities about the latest incident. He was not aware of any arrests.
The spokesman added the shots were fired from the street at or close to the British Embassy at 0055 local time, adding "there were witnesses to the shots outside in the street".
