St Quentin, France, June30: Golding finished on a 15-under-par total of 273 on Sunday (June 29), one shot clear of fellow Briton David Howell with Justin Rose and Australian Peter O'Malley tied for third place a stroke further back. The 22-year-old Rose set the pace on Sunday with a sparkling round of 65, but Golding, the overnight leader, held his nerve to clinch his first win in around 200 tour events. Golding, ranked 411th in the world, Howell and O'Malley were asked to take drugs tests after their rounds, the first random drug tests taken on the European Tour. The results, expected in two weeks, whether positive or not, will not affect the French Open outcome because the European Tour does not have a competition conditions list. Afterwards Golding said: "I can't believe it. You've watched me play the last two days. It was a bit mixed yesterday but I felt really good this morning, hit the balls better than I did yesterday. "My putting was good all weekand I felt I hit more greens today and gave myself better opportunities, drove the ball better and stuck to one hole at a time and gained one shot at a time....I'm absolutely thrilled."
