Kolkata, Sept 19: Over 25 top drivers from across the country would vie for honours in the second round of the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale Go-Karting championship, to be held here on september 21.
Defending champion Preetam Muniappa and prominent finishers in the first round at Chennai in July would be among the drivers who would zoom down the Kartica track at Rajarhat on Alpha carts, imported from France.
Competitions would be held in four categories – the Indian National Karting Championship, the Karting Champions Trophy, the Kadet-Indian National Carting Championship and the Manufacturers Trophy. The fifth event of the championship - the Privateer's Trophy may not be held in the city leg, general manager-advertising of MRF A Rodricks told reporters yesterday.
The subsequent rounds of the series would be held in Nagpur (October 4-5), Pune (November 15-16), Mumbai (November 22-23) and Bangalore (December 20-21).

The six round series offers a total prize money of Rs seven lakh, and the champion in all the five classes would be identified at the end of the series on the basis of cumulative points, he said.
