Srinagar, Sept 26: United Kingdom today said there was evidence of Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. "The documents and other proof show active involvement of Pakistan in sponsoring terrorism in the state", its Chief of Defence Staff Gen Michael Walker told reporters after meeting general officer commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corp Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma here. He said Britian was facing similar terrorist campaign as India and both countries were looking for common threads to deal with the situation.

Briefing Walker about the prevailing situation in the Kashmir Valley, Sharma said there was no let up in infiltration from across the border. However, he said army is conducting successful anti-terrorist operations along the Line of Control as well as in the Valley.

Walker was also shown documents and weapons recovered from the militants which clearly show active involvement of Pakistan in aiding and abetting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 13 years, he said.

Accompanied by wife, Walker is in India in connection with the joint military exercise between the two countries to be conducted in February-March next year.
