Sagar, July 30: Accusing the Madhya Pradesh government of involvement in a "major power scam", BJP has disputed Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's claims that the power crisis had ended in the state. Addressing rallies at Banda and Rahatgarh in the district yesterday as part of her 'Sankalp Yatra', BJP star campaigner Uma Bharti said if her party was elected to power in the forthcoming assembly polls, then it would register criminal cases against those responsible for the scam.

Asserting that the power crisis was continuing in the state, she said only the gap between demand and supply had been reduced due to hydel power generation after the rains. Bharti said no new power unit had been erected to generate power and added that even old units were not being repaired.

The fire-brand leader said the crisis had severly affected the studies of children, industries and agriculture.

Later, talking to reporters, Bharti said the main aim of the yatra was to change the government and prevailing system in the state.

The BJP leader said she has already covered 180 assembly constituencies out of 230 in the state. Bureau Report
