Lucknow, Oct 17: Uttar Pradesh government has decided to release all the 'Ram bhakts' who were either detained or arrested in different parts of the state in view of VHP's 'sankalp' programme in Ayodhya today which passed off peacefully. Bowing down to pressure, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister announced that all VHP workers who had been arrested ahead of the "Ram bhakta Sammelan" will be released without any conditions. He has also promised that the karsevaks will be allowed to perform "darshan" of Lord Ram's idol at the disputed site.

The state government took the decision after no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state on the day of VHP's much-hyped programme, chief secretary Akhand Pratap Singh told reporters here.

He confirmed that VHP international president Ashok Singhal and senior leader Dr Ram Vilas Vedanti had been arrested at Ayodhya.
Singh said altogether, 33,000 VHP activists were arrested statewide and now all of them would be released.

To a question, he said that VHP international president Ashok Singhal had been kept at Karsewakpuram itself as had been desired by him.

The government has kept its promise of facilitating darshan of 'Ram lala' at the makeshift temple which went off peacefully since morning, he added.
