This year's edition of the Tiger Cup will now be played in Indonesia and Singapore in December, the Asean Football Federation said. The federation said the original date from August 30 to September 14 would clash with the preliminary rounds of the Asian Football Confederation Champions' League where southeast Asian Club sides will be participating.

We feel it is in the best interests of everybody that we move the Tiger Cup 2002 to December, said federation secretary Paul Mony Samuel in a statement received after a meeting in Phuket, Thailand. He added this will ensure that the best players are available to participate for both the national team and club competitions.
