Chandigarh, May 26: The BJP today sought to downplay the reported remarks of its alliance partner in Haryana and at the Centre, the INLD, which has decided to go alone in the forthcoming Lok Sabha and state elections. Not attaching much importance to the reported remarks of Chief Minister and INLD president Om Prakash Chautala that his party would fight both the elections on its own, BJP national secretary O P Kohli said, "It is still a long time before the two elections are held. People in political arena sometimes make statements which they do not always mean." Asked what would be the BJP's stand in the backdrop of Chautala's statement, he said, "I don't attach much importance to his (Chautala's) statement. Things will become clear only when elections draw close. About the resentment among senior party leaders in state over the Chief Minister's "autocratic style of functioning" and the recent incident in which several BJP leaders were allegedly lathicharged in Faridabad, he said, "This has been brought to the notice of the party high command.’ Bureau Report
