The Vajpayee government has come under pressure from two of its key southern allies on the Ayodhya issue with DMK and TDP voicing their firm opposition to any deviation from the NDA's stand on it. DMK President M Karunanidhi said the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre would not alter its stand taken at the time of formation of the alliance to exclude the Ayodhya issue from its common agenda.
"I have no such information, Karunanidhi told reporters in Chennai when asked to comment on reports that the Union Government had decided to examine the legal and constitutional aspects of handing over the undisputed plots of land around the disputed site to Ram Janmabhoomi Trust.
"The Centre will not alter its stand that was taken when the NDA was formed on the Ram Janma Bhoomi issue," he said.
The TDP, a key outside ally of NDA government, has called for stern action against anybody attempting to build the temple at the disputed site saying "this will amount to violation of Supreme Court orders".

A meeting of TDP's politburo, chaired by party supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad Sunday night, expressed concern over ultimatums being issued by VHP and other Sangh Parivar organisations for starting construction of the temple. Bureau Report
