Mumbai, Nov 24: Pending decision of the review committee set up under Pota, a special court today ordered the prosecution to open arguments in the cases pertaining to bomb blasts at Ghatkopar, Vile Parle, Mumbai Central and Mulund on December 11 for framing charges against 24 accused.
Prosecutor Rohini Salian said many accused had filed
petitions before the review committee to consider their cases
for discharge and its decision was awaited. Until the
committee decides the fate of the accused, the court should
not insist on the prosecution opening its case, she said.
However, defence lawyer Majeed Memon said pending the decision of the review committee the accused had no objection if the prosecution opened arguments in the cases. He even filed an application in this regard.
The designated judge A P Bhangale had earlier asked the prosecution to show what material it had against the accused.
All the blasts had occurred between December 2002 and March 2003.
