Eight Pakistani prisoners to be deported
New Delhi, Sept 18: Union government today informed the Supreme Court that it has passed deportation orders for eight Pakistani prisoners as the neighbouring country has agreed to accept them.
New Delhi, Sept 18: Union government today informed the Supreme Court that it has passed deportation orders for eight Pakistani prisoners as the neighbouring country has agreed to accept them.
Attorney General Soli Sorabjee submitted before a bench
comprising Justice Ruma Pal and Justice P V Reddi that the
government has passed the orders in respect of the eight
prisoners and fixed the time limit for their deportation as
September 30.
The government said in regard to other five Pakistani prisoners, they have been provided with consular facilities for authentication of their identities.
Sorabjee said the two other Pakistani prisoners who had approached supreme court cannot be relieved as they are facing trial.
The court appreciated efforts of the attorney general in the case and adjourned hearing for six months. Bureau Report
