Bhubaneswar, July 26: The weather office have warned of squally weather and heavy rains in Orissa after formation of a depression over the North-West and adjoining North-East Bay of Bengal which lay centred 200 km South-South-East of Kolkata at 8.30 am today. The system was likely to intensify further and move in a west-north-westerly direction, the met office sources said while forecasting the likelihood of rains and thundershower over most places in Orissa.
Heavy rains were likely to occur at a few places with very heavy falls at isolated places during the next 48 hours. Squally weather was likely to prevail on and along the Orissa coast while gale, speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph, would be experienced.
Fishermen had been advised against venturing into the sea which would be rough. Local cautionary signal number three had been hoisted at the ports of Paradip and Gopalpur, the sources said. Bureau Report
