Patna, May 29: The seizure of a cache of firearms and ammunition from the clinic of a paediatrician and arrest of his four staff here has given a new twist to the investigation into the recent killing of a professor in the state capital with police claiming that the raid was conducted on the basis of lead provided by one of the accused arrested in connection with the murder. Deputy SP (Town), R K Dubey, told reporters here today that the raid at an eminent child specialist Dr Utpal Kant Singh's clinic was conducted on the basis of information given by a person arrested in connection with the murder of head of the department of chemistry of Patna Science College, S Lal. One 9 mm pistol, three country-made revolvers and 12 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the doctor's clinic and four persons, including his driver, compounder, a guard and another staff were arrested. Those arrested had confessed before the police that they had kept the firearms in the clinic on instructions of Singh, police said. Singh was not at his clinic at the time of the raid, the DSP said, adding that the police was searching for the elusive doctor to quiz him about recovery of firearms from his premises. Bureau Report
