Tokyo, June 21: Tokyo continued to be in the grips of Beckham mania as the soccer star stole the show across all Japanese media when he appeared at a primary school. Beckham mania reached new heights in Japan as office workers lined roof tops and bridges to catch a glimpse of their idol. On the third day of a promotional Asian tour, the 28 year-old England captain showed off his footballing skills on a visit to a Tokyo primary school.
Over three hundred excited students, each carrying a pink carnation, lined the school sports ground to welcome the international soccer star. Earlier selected fans got to meet Beckham at another event. These crowds lined the streets in the hope of seeing the sporting hero as he left.

"I want to see him in the flesh at least once," said one fan. And for fifteen year old Rui Omoda the wait was worth every minute. "He looked really great, he looked so cool. Everything was perfect."

Beckham is due to go to Spain in early July to finalise his £25 million pound (sterling) move to Real Madrid from Manchester United.

Beckham's image rights have helped earn him a personal fortune of 50 million pounds, but his brand value is estimated at over 200 million.
