Mumbai, June 09: Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi has acknowledged for the first time that he has been making efforts to end the differences between Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's son Uddhav and nephew Raj. The cold war between the two scions has worried many staunch Shiv Sainiks, especially in view of the Sena chief's advancing years. Although Uddhav has taken over as the executive president of Shiv Sena, Raj is recognised as a youth leader and has his own following in the saffron party. In his book, 'Speaker's Diary', which will be released here today by Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Joshi, who is among the senior-most leaders close to Thackeray, has made a significant entry in this regard. The book in Marathi is replete with insider information and anecdotes.
Joshi feels that democracy is ingrained in the Indian mind and any person or party that attempts to subvert this system is doomed to be rejected by the public automatically. Bureau Report
