New Delhi, Aug 26: BJP today accused UP Chief Minister Mayawati of committing a "breach of trust" by unilaterally recommending dissolution of the state assembly
and said it was for the governor to decide the future course of action.
After an hour-long meeting of the party's parliamentary board attended by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and UP party leaders and others, BJP president Venkaiah Naidu told reporters that the party
would not take any initiative in government formation in the state.
Naidu said the Mayawati government has been reduced to a minority following withdrawal of support by the BJP. "Whatever situation arises, BJP is ready to face it," he said. Asked whether Samajwadi Party should be called to form the government, he said it was for the governor to decide as no party has a majority in the assembly.
Naidu said it is for the governor to constitutionally take the "correct course of future action".
"As far as BJP is concerned, we are ready for any situation and we will not take any initiative to form an alternative government," he said. Bureau Report
