Florida, Oct 24: Tiger Woods moved within 18 holes of matching a long-time PGA Tour record when he shot a 6-under-par 66 Thursday and trails Brenden Pappas by three strokes after the opening round of the Funai Classic at Disney World.
Barring an unexpected disaster Friday, Woods will be credited with making his 113th straight cut on tour, tying the mark set by Byron Nelson in the 1940s. Woods was a little disappointed with his score, because he was at 6-under after just 11 holes on the Palm course, the easier of the two layouts used for the $4 million event, but could only par the final seven holes in pleasant morning conditions.
The highlight of his round was a birdie at the par-3 16th, his seventh hole, where his 7-iron hit the flag and nestled within tap-in range.
