New Delhi, Nov 20: Allegations of bribery in Indian cricket surfaced today when a top cricket board official said a cricketer had offered to pay money to selectors to secure a berth in the India `A` team which is to play Sri Lanka in a two-Test series at home later this month.
The player in question is leading Maharashtra batsman Abhijit Kale.
"The player had offered to pay money to a couple of selectors for a place in the India `A` team," Prof Ratnakar Shetty, joint secretary of the board told a news agency over phone.
However, Shetty refused to divulge either the identity of the player or the selectors to whom the offer was made.
Shetty would be submitting a report on the matter to BCCI Chief Jagmohan Dalmiya so that an appropriate action is taken.
"I can assure you that a stern action will be taken against the player," Shetty said.
