Patna, Feb 12: Four top Bihar officials, including Director General of Police Waris Hayat Khan and Home Secretary B K Haldar, and two pilots had a miraculous escape when their helicopter crashed while landing at Munger today. While Khan and Haldar escaped unhurt, Inspector General (Special Branch) C Lima Imchen and Special Secretary (home) Krishna Chaudhary, besides the two pilots Akhtar Imam and D K Singh received minor injuries, Munger district magistrate R S B Singh told here over phone.
The accident occurred as the chopper's rotor fell off just before landing leading to a free fall of the aircraft, which triggered a minor fire which was put out by the fire tenders present atr the landing site.
Indian Airforce officers and jawans who were present at the time of landing pulled out all the occupants.
The injured have been admitted to the Sadar hospital at Munger for first aid. All of them are out of danger, Singh said.
The officials had gone to Munger to supervise arrangement for the proposed visit of president A P J Abdul Kalam on February 14.
