Coming out in support of police personnel fighting terrorism, Punjab super cop K P S Gill on Friday demanded review of the Srikrishna Commission report indicting police officials in the 1992-93 riots by a panel of three retired Supreme Court judges.
Stating that there is nothing in the report against the police officials, former director general of Punjab Police observed Any legal expert can go through the report. It is totally a travesty of justice.
Airing his views on the commission report at a seminar on ‘Security forces' morale and human rights - the right balance’, he said, “Appoint three retired Supreme Court judges to go through the report then only the actual facts and truth will come out.”
Gill, who is credited with crushing down militancy in Punjab with stern hand, said that if we start prosecuting police personnel in this manner no policeman would come out to risk his life to fight terrorism and organised crimes.

Stating that he would be the first person to stand with the human right activists against any excesses committed by the police and would support prosecution of such officials but don't subvert the law just to malign them.

“There is a sinister design by the forces acting against national interest to make the police force ineffective and if they succeed in it, no body would come forward to fight for the country,” he said.
