Los Angeles, Sept 30: The US arm of Nintendo. Co. Ltd., the Japanese video game company, on Monday launched a $50 million advertising campaign to promote its lineup of games and game characters, using the tag line "Who are you?"
Nintendo of America said the campaign, developed with Leo Burnett USA in Chicago, was part of a $100 million marketing push through the end of the year.
While Nintendo's handheld Game Boy Advance dominates the portable gaming market, its GameCube home gaming console has struggled. Last week the company cut the price of the unit to $99 to boost sales.
While it makes gaming hardware, Nintendo has also been known for its games, especially characters like Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Nintendo said it will use those characters and others in print and movie ads, mural, billboards and banners nationwide. Bureau Report
