The sensational Naina Sahni murder case, hanging fire for six months due to non-availability of a counsel for prime accused Sushil Sharma, witnesses yet another adjournment on Wednesday as the search for an amicus curiae was far from over. Additional sessions judge G P Thereja, who had earlier requested different bar associations of Delhi to recommend names of senior lawyers who could assist the court as amicus curiae in conducting the trial, adjourned the case till Monday after he was informed that only the Delhi Bar Association had sent its reply. The court issued directions for sending of fresh requests to New Delhi Bar Association and Karkardooma Bar Association and Delhi Legal Aid Authority through special messengers and adjourned posted the matter for October 8.
Meanwhile, accused Keshav Kumar moved a bail application before the court which will be taken up for hearing on Monday. On the last date of hearing, while seeking a list of senior lawyers from the Bar Associations and the Legal Aid Authority, the court had requested them to send their reply as soon as possible.
The trial is held up ever since amicus curiae K K Sud was appointed additional solicitor general about six months ago. Sud initially said he had to seek government's permission to represent Sharma but later withdrew himself from the case.
