Shillong, July 04: Meghalaya Police today arrested four militants - two from NSCN (I-M), one from NLFT and one from pro-Pak outfit - and seized ammunition from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, raids were conducted in Laban area and its surroundings of the city and extremists apprehended separately, police sources said here. The two NSCN (I-M) and the NLFT ultras were involved in the killing of a taxi driver-cum-businessman and looting of Rs one lakh from a city petrol pump on Tuesday. Police had gunned down a self-styled "sergeant major" of the NSCN (I-M), who was the mastermind behind the incident, on Wednesday evening and arrested his wife. Three Chinese-made hand grenades, one 9-mm pistol, two magazines and 65 ammunition besides some documents were seized from the possession of the ultras during raids.
The ultras would be produced in the court tomorrow, the sources added. Bureau Report
