Darbhanga (Bihar), Oct 02: Defence Minister George Fernandes today said that tension was continuing on the Indo-Pak border due to increase in cross-border terrorism in recent days and asserted that the Indian Army was fighting the menace successfully.
"Tension is continuing at the Indo-Pak border because of increase in Pak-sponsored terrorism inside our territory. But our soldiers are fighting cross-border terrorism successfully," he said after inaugurating a memorial in the
honour of Late Captain Dilip Kumar Jha at his home village, Haripur, about 30 km from the district headquarters.
Jha died fighting terrorists in the Mendor sector in Jammu and Kashmir last year.
The minister said as part of efforts to check transport of terrorism from across the border, the defence ministry has decided to install high-tech sensors on the Indo-Pak borders to check terrorists crossing over.
Expressing grave concern over rise in incidents of terrorism inside the country, Fernandes called upon the people to give a fitting reply to it.
