New Delhi, Jan 14: A new book on the Bhagavad Gita has sought to relate the holy scripture's teachings with today's developments the world over and its practical applications illustrated with modern day examples. The book Gita today, authored by Krishna Bhatta dwells at length on the practical applications of the Gita in the new world and touches upon issues like the September 11 attacks on the US and wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. "This book is an interpretation of Bhagavad Gita for the new-age world. I have tried to relate various preachings of the holy scripture with current developments and circumstances. The examples are modern and it will touch the lives of the younger generation," Bhatta said after releasing the book here today. The whole idea was to interpret the epic from a seeker's point of view rather than from the perspective of teachers and philosophers, he said, adding what Arjuna could relate to was equally important to the younger generation.

Asserting that the Gita was the "core book in Indian heritage and scripture", he said the whole idea of the book is to put forward a different approach.

"It is relevant to the present generation and circumstances and youngsters can relate to it more," Bhatta, a practising medical practitioner in the United States said.
