A person was drowned in Goalpara district yesterday taking the toll in the current round of floods to 13, the sources said.
Nearly 12 lakh people have been affected by the current wave of floods, which also caused large-scale damage to crops and property.
The situation in worst-hit Dhemaji remained critical with the water levels of rivers Jiadhol and Gainadi rising alarmingly, while a breach in the vital Brahmaputra dyke at Karengchapori last night led to the submergence of 80 villages and affecting more than one lakh population, the sources said.
There is an acute shortage of essential commodities in Dhemaji with trucks carrying supplies stranded.
The situation in Goalpara, Sonitpur, Dhubri, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Sibsagar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup and Dibrugarh districts were also critical with the water levels flowing above the red mark, the sources said.
