Kolkata, Apr 28: Two street hawkers today identified blood-stained jackets, chairs with bullet marks and spent shells seized before the American Center on January 22, 2002, after the terrorist attack. Appearing before sessions judge Pyarelal Dutta in the Special Court in presidency jail, the hawkers Babloo Biswas and Niranjan Barui identified the seizures. All accused, including prime accused Aftab Ansari were present in court.

Ansari, who was produced in the special court could not be produced before the 2nd additional district session judge, Alipore, Amitava Das, in the case relating to the abduction of shoe baron Parthopratim Roy on July 25, 2001 from the eastern metropolitan bypass here.

Ten of the accused in the kidnap case were produced.

Four accused, now in Tihar Jail, facing trial in other cases, could also not be produced here.

The judge fixed June 18 for producing all the accused before his court.

The judge said that he would give his ruling on the police plea to handcuff Ansari and the others while in transit from jail to court as they were dangerous criminals.
Das said that he would also hear the petition by the West Bengal government on the next day for conducting court proceedings at presidency jail on security grounds, in the case. Bureau Report
